Entertainment in San Antonio

If you’re trying to find San Antonio entertainment, in this post I’ve compiled some of the best recreation in San Antonio.  I’ll continue adding to this SA Entertainment list as I continue to remember fun things to do and gather email suggestions.

San Antonio Spurs – SA’s only major sports team.  The locals are passionate about the 4 time champion Spurs and if you happen to be here during the NBA season, a Spurs game provides top notch entertainment.

Retama Park – Bet on horse races.  Pretty much the only legal gambling operation in town outside of the bingo parlors.  The fun factor depends how much you like gambling on horses to win a race.  Kids may just enjoy seeing the horses.

San Antonio Missions – San Antonio’s only baseball team.  A minor league affiliate, you’re looking at a semi-pro team.  Catching a ball game is always entertaining, if nothing else for the experience but baseball games do last about 3 hours so your patience will be tested if you’re not genuinely interested.

Malibu Grand Prix – Inside games, mini golf, batting cages, go-cart racing, and mini water boating at Malibu.  Fun for kids and adults but can be on the pricey side.  Chucky Cheese level of food.

Dave and Busters – More advanced inside games with much better food.  A large selection of alcoholic beverages.  More fun for adults than Malibu, but kids will like this one too.

La Cantera – San Antonians love their shopping.  La Cantera provides an outdoor open mall of exclusive and upscale retailers.  If nothing else, can be entertaining just to walk around and browse.

Fiesta Texas – Large theme park with a water park included.  Rides, shows, places to eat, and games.

Sea World – Marine based theme park with interaction with sea creatures.  Includes a water park and water affiliated rides.  Somewhat educational.

Rivercenter Comedy Club – San Antonio’s reknown comedy club.  Good for laughs if the comedian is on that night.

Movies – One of San Antonio’s favorite go to sources of entertainment.  You can tell by how many movie theaters are in the Alamo City.

How Much are Fiesta Oyster Bake Tickets?

If you’ve found my San Antonio Blog looking to find out how much are Oyster Bake tickets, I have the answers for you.   If you buy your Fiesta Oysterbake tickets Friday at the gate, the tickets will be $20 each.  The price is the same at the St. Mary’s University gate on Saturday.  There is no Oysterbake on Sunday.  If you buy your Oysterbake tickets ahead of time, they are $16.  St. Mary’s students get a discount I believe.  Children under 12 get free admission.

Oysterbake 2010 now has credit card and debit card machines at the coupon booths and entrance gate.  If you need cash, there will also be an ATM machine at the Oyster bake entrance gate.  Surprisingly, checks will also be accepted at the Oysterbake.  Minimum purchase on checks is $50 and a drivers license is required.  There is a $20 limit on all credit card and debit purchases.
