The Bexar County jail is run by cronies that were appointed by Amadeo Ortiz when he assumed his elected position of Sheriff on January 1st, 2009. These cronies are assistant chief deputies who are paid about $98,000 a year (Public Record). These are interesting comments that the public should attempt to flesh out abd investigate. Some comments involve your county tax dollars.
Over the years I have heard firsthand, from a dispicable person in charge of the jail, about his teasing, intimidation, and his encouraged assaults on prisoners by other prisoners for favors. Oh, his admissions are all offhand comments. Short and smirky and designed to shock and to project that he is in total charge and untouchable. Yep, he is an Ortiz appointee and since he worked directly under Ortiz in the past one can only surmise that Ortiz has known all of this and likely participated. How can I say these things, because the Chief involved “was once my brother.” Do I fear him? Not at all. But, if you go to his jail, you should. He has threatened my life with death threats and plotted fake arrests and lockup in “his” jail. My best defense is to put it all out there!
I’ll tell you what else, if you are a big wig at the Bexar County Jail you can do all kinds of favors for the SAPD officers whose family members get arrested. Like the SAPD officer who called then Captain Dan Gabehart and asked for help when his wife got arrested for shoplifting back around Christmas 2008. Captain Gabehart got special treatment for the SAPD wife and assisted her speedy release from jail. An honest and responsible jail guard objected with the special treatment and when Captain Gabehart found out he stated that he would get that officer straightened out. When you do little favors for the SAPD you can call in your markers when you want to use the SAPD to throw your brothers out of their childhood home when they are trying to visit their mother or dying father. I am one of those brothers that Assistant Deputy Chief Dan Gabehart had thrown out of my mother’s house, and he used two SAPD officers to do his bidding. This is irresponsible use of his office, but it is nothing new for Dan Gabehart.
I would not think that anyone would want to end up in jail and especially a jail run by irresponsible people. What kind of patrol or arrest deputies do we have in Bexar County? Are they like the jailers who run amuck stalking deer at night and shooting into peoples “yards” to hit deer. If they couldn’t see the house, how did they know it was a deer? Jail Chief Dan Gabehart did just that with Benson and others and were arrested by O.C. (Cookie) Becker. But alas, Dan Gabehart got out of it with political pressure applied against Becker. As is rumored, the judge through out the arrest.
