An Inspiration To Me

I love this story out of the Express-News.  D.J. Gregory is a 30 year-old man with cerebral palsy who once used a wheelchair.  He now has walked through every single hole in the PGA tour for the past 40 weeks and his goal is to finish all 44.  He first sent a proposal to the PGA with the help of one Jim Nantz.  Now each week, he picks out a golfer to follow around the course.  You can see D.J.’s golf blog here.  D.J.’s story has picked up huge sponsors including Outback Steakhouse, Ashworth, Southwest Airlines, FootJoy, and ACCUSPLIT which are effectively limiting his costs of indepth coverage the PGA tour.  I’m no golf fan, but this is nothing short of awesome.  D.J. is beating a huge physical limitation and showing us all a work ethic and determination we can admire.  Thanks to Bryan Chu for writing the Express-News story.  Definitely a must read.

Best San Antonio Radio Talk Show In The Morning

I’ve got to go with the Lyle and Hahn Morning show on 99.5 kiss.  Run by two laid-back average joes and the perfect compliment in Kerry Kendall the show has great harmony.  I think the best way to describe 99.5 kiss’s morning show is to say they just let what is be.  They’re not making up stories like Kidd Kraddick (also you can’t call yourself “kid” when you’re 38 and over).  They’re also not playing to a crowd like the Morning Mess with Xavier and Biggie Paul.  They’re just talking current events and ongoings and humor finds its way into the conversation no matter what happens.  They also interact with callers on a personal level and don’t try to shove them off air as soon as their on.  Very solid radio show.  I say B+.
